Gallium Nitride (GaN) Industry Chain Analysis

The GaN industry chain is generally divided into upstream materials, namely substrates and epitaxial wafers, midstream devices and modules, and downstream systems and applications. The application of GaN materials mainly includes two processes: substrate preparation and epitaxial technology. The substrate is the basic material for manufacturing semiconductor devices, usually a wafer made of homo-material or compatible hetero-material for epitaxial materials. In the semiconductor industry, the concept of epitaxy refers to the process of growing a new single-crystal thin film on a substrate, where the new single-crystal thin film can be either the same material as the substrate or a different material. The epitaxial wafer produced through the epitaxial growth process is the fundamental raw material for semiconductor device manufacturing.
